Pirkan opisto is one of the largest adult education centres providing life-long learning in Finland. The institute was established by the municipalities of Nokia, Pirkkala, Lempäälä and Vesilahti and arranges education in the liberal arts and hobby-based training, in addition to providing basic art education services for the four member municipalities.

The City of Nokia serves as the municipality in charge of Pirkan opisto’s operations. The institute is set up as a provider of liberal adult education under the City of Nokia Education Services. The governing body for the institute is the Pirkan opisto Division with representatives appointed by the member municipalities.

Some 47,000 sessions on roughly 1,900 courses are taught at the institute each year, with 600 students receiving individual music tuition and some 24,000 enrolled in group courses.

Pirkan opisto also arranges customized courses tailored according to the client’s needs.
